I’m writing this post a little later than I usually would because my goals for 2017 are a work in progress, and I’m not even planning to firm them up until I’ve had a chance to do some exploring. In the final week of 2016, I wrapped up major edits of the final book in a series I’ve been working on for quite some time (2002-2007 and 2014-now). It’s been a learning experience. I hope that it’s good. I’m planning to do something less ambitious for my next project.
2016 was not a great year for the world at large, but for me personally it was pretty nice. The kids are in school, my husband’s sword-making business is doing well, and everyone’s been pretty healthy (I have a cold right now, but that’s par for the course this time of year. Also I didn’t lose weight, but I didn’t gain much either). I didn’t make all of my 2016 goals on the schedule I set for myself, but the big one (wrapping up this series) is within spitting distance.
So here are my writing goals for the coming year:
- Publish Chronicles of the Last Days (January)
- Experiment with one thing or another, maybe take a class (January-March)
- Start working on a new book
- Go to one writers’ conference and/or con and/or take a class
- Publish at least one new book beyond Chronicles, maybe more.
At the moment I’m tentatively planning to do something more in the historical romance genre, but I’m not ready to commit just yet. I’ll keep you posted.
